Some important steps for designing and analyzing data from a clinical study:

• Choose a descriptive or analytic question that you are genuinely interested in knowing the answer to.
• Perform a literature search, review published work, and speak to the experts in the field.
• Choose a study design by considering the advantages and disadvantages of the different methods.
• Develop data entry screens. Collect your data. Enter your data. Conduct data analyses.
• Data Management. Determine the type of univariate, bivariate, and multivariable analyses you will need to perform.
• Develop a study manual.
• Submit your research protocol for approval.
• Develop a media strategy to coincide with the publication of your paper.
